About Me

I’m Luke Rostron, a British Army SNCO and self-taught photographer, with 14 years’ experience working in demanding environments across the UK, Europe, and East Africa. My career as a Recovery Mechanic has shaped the way I view the world: I pay attention to detail, remain calm under pressure, and appreciate moments that are genuine rather than staged.

Photography started as something I picked up on exercise, and I found myself wanting to capture not just the machinery and movement, but the people behind it. Since then, the camera has come with me everywhere, from armoured convoys in Estonia to community projects and wildlife reserves in Kenya.

My work focuses on authenticity. Whether it’s soldiers catching a breath after a long day in the turret, the quiet exchange between teammates during Army Masters Football training, or a lioness drinking in silence after the hunt. I’m drawn to the moments that are unscripted and unpolished. The real story lives there.

Today, I balance military duties with photography across:

  • Military fieldwork & operations
  • Sports & team environments
  • Wildlife and natural landscapes
  • Community engagement
